athenahealth Thrive 2025 Recap: Key Takeaways from This Year’s Event

We had an incredible time at Thrive 2025, thank you to everyone who stopped by the Adonis booth, joined us for meaningful conversations, and came out to our happy hour co-hosted with CaduceusHealth. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with healthcare leaders and revenue cycle teams who are driving real change in how organizations think about technology, efficiency, and growth.
Here are three key themes that stood out to us from this year’s event:
1. AI and Automation Are Everywhere, But Differentiating Hype from Reality Is Key
AI and automation were top of mind for nearly every attendee we spoke with. It felt like every booth in the expo hall had “AI” on it somewhere — our’s included! There’s no question that these technologies are transforming the healthcare revenue cycle, but many leaders are now asking how to separate real, operationally impactful solutions from the noise.
The takeaway? It’s not about using AI for AI’s sake. It’s about identifying where automation can make measurable improvements in your revenue cycle. Looking at tools that can demonstrate that they’ve significantly reduced manual work, improved speed to cash, and uncovered revenue leakage for similar groups like yours is a good place to start. The conversations at Thrive made it clear that organizations are looking for practical, results-driven applications of AI, not just promises.
2. Downcoding and Underpayments Continue to Be Major Pain Points
A recurring theme in our booth conversations was the growing challenge of downcoding and underpayments. Revenue cycle teams are feeling the impact of missed reimbursements, and many are searching for ways to gain visibility and control over payer behavior.
We recently highlighted this in our ApolloMD case study, where the organization leveraged Adonis Intelligence and AI Agents to uncover $46.6M in missed revenue and achieve a 67% reduction in denials. By automating underpayment detection and denial prevention, ApolloMD transformed its revenue operations—proving that the right technology can directly translate to stronger financial outcomes.

3. Teams Are Thinking Strategically About Bringing in New Technology
Another key discussion at Thrive centered around how to introduce new technology into existing revenue cycle workflows, without disrupting teams or creating more complexity.
Many leaders are recognizing that AI doesn’t replace people, it empowers them. When implemented thoughtfully, AI can upskill existing team members, automate repetitive work, and allow teams to focus on higher-value, strategic initiatives. The future of RCM isn’t about replacing human expertise, it’s about amplifying it with intelligence and automation.
Closing
Thrive 2025 was a clear reflection of where the industry is headed: toward smarter, data-driven, and more efficient revenue operations powered by AI. We’re grateful to have been part of the conversation and to connect with so many forward-thinking healthcare organizations.
If we didn’t get a chance to connect in person, we’d still love to chat! Reach out to learn how Adonis is helping RCM teams collect more, work smarter, and reduce denials through intelligent automation.
